  • Cake flour
  • Baking powder
  • Salt
  • Unsalted butter softened
  • Granulated sugar
  • Egg whites
  • Whole milk
  • Buttercream frosting
  • Royal icing
  • Meringue powder
  • Powdered sugar
  • Water
  • Pink gel food coloring optional
  • Edible glitter optional
  • Edible sparkles optional
  • Fruit jam optional filling

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the cake pans.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add egg whites one at a time.
  • Combine cake flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture.
  • Divide batter evenly between the pans.
  • Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Level cake layers if necessary.
  • Fill and stack with buttercream or jam.
  • Apply a thin crumb coat and chill for 15–20 minutes.
  • Add the final frosting layer and smooth the surface.
  • Decorate using Lambeth piping techniques with buttercream or royal icing.
  • Finish with edible glitter or decorative accents if desired.

Notes

  • Use room-temperature ingredients.
  • Do not overmix the batter.
  • Chill the crumb coat before decorating.
  • Royal icing should be stiff enough to hold detailed piping.
  • Practice piping on parchment paper before decorating the cake.
