  • Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
  • 4 cups unsalted butter softened
  • 8 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 tablespoons milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • Decorations
  • Unicorn horn topper
  • Fondant unicorn ears
  • Edible gold dust
  • Rainbow sprinkles
  • Edible glitter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare five 8-inch round cake pans.
  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk until a smooth batter forms.
  • Divide the batter into five bowls and color each portion with a different gel food color.
  • Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25–30 minutes.
  • Allow cakes to cool completely on wire racks.
  • Prepare the buttercream frosting.
  • Stack the cake layers with frosting between each layer.
  • Apply a crumb coat and chill for 20 minutes.
  • Cover the cake with a final layer of buttercream.
  • Decorate with the unicorn horn, ears, rainbow swirls, edible glitter, and sprinkles.
  • Slice and serve.

  • Allow cake layers to cool completely before decorating.
